About Andrew
Andrew was admitted as a solicitor in 1991 and has practised in numerous locations including Sydney, Canberra and the far south coast of New South Wales. In 1997 he commenced his own practice, and in 2005 he founded the firm, Andrew Warren Associates.
In 2009 he became the first solicitor on the far south coast of New South Wales to be appointed by the Law Society of NSW as an Accredited Specialist in Family Law.
Just as there are specialist doctors, the Law Society’s specialist accreditation scheme appoints lawyers who have demonstrated specialised competency in a particular area of law with the title “Accredited Specialist”. To become an Accredited Specialist, Andrew had to pass rigorous assessments in communication, problem-solving, client relations, and knowledge of the law relating to family law.
In addition, to maintain his specialist accreditation since 2009, Andrew has had to keep his skills updated annually by completing double the amount of continuing legal education requirements that a normal solicitor is required to complete.
Since 2009 Andrew has almost exclusively practised in Family Law.
In 2016 Andrew was awarded a Master’s degree in Family Law and in addition is an Accredited Independent Children’s Lawyer.
As well as these qualifications, Andrew holds a Diploma of Law, a Bachelor of Arts degree, a Graduate Diploma of Commercial Law, a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, and is a Graduate Fellow of the College of Law. He is a member of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia.
Andrew practises as both a barrister and solicitor, appearing as an advocate in Court regularly in both simple and complex parenting and property matters. There is a huge benefit to his clients in this, because they don’t have to pay extra for a barrister to be involved in their case as well as a solicitor.
Over the years Andrew has established a strong reputation for being a tough and highly skilled advocate, representing his clients in State and Federal Courts with an impressive record of successful outcomes.
Andrew is an expert in complex family law property issues and children’s disputes and he regularly travels to all parts of NSW and ACT and beyond to represent his clients. He has undertaken a wide variety of work and is just as comfortable helping people with simple divorces as he is in acting in complex multi-million dollar property settlement applications, and complicated parenting disputes including urgent applications to the court. A significant part of his work is in advising and assisting with negotiations and mediations between separated parties to reach agreements, therefore avoiding having to go to court in the first place.
In brief terms he is approachable, sensitive and focused on client needs.
Andrew does not employ solicitors in his practice. This is because he strongly believes that clients who choose to instruct him are entitled to expect that he will personally advise and represent them, rather than have their work delegated to other lawyers. This way, he ensures that clients are provided with the correct advice using his expertise as an accredited specialist.
Andrew gains a lot of satisfaction from his technical advice work and from managing a quality law firm. He maintains a sense of humour and gets on with his clients, personally giving them the right advice, the right way, at the right time.
